Make movement goals personal
What would you like to do more easily: walk to the kitchen, rise from a chair, manage a step, or move around your community? Your therapist connects the evaluation to the activities that matter to you.
We consider your medical history, symptoms, balance, strength, mobility, and the support you currently use. The evaluation guides an individualized plan rather than a standard exercise list.
Areas your plan may address
- Walking and changes in gait after a neurological condition or injury.
- Balance, movement confidence, and strategies to reduce fall risk.
- Transfers, such as moving between a chair and another surface.
- Strength, coordination, and mobility needed for daily activities.
- Education and appropriate practice to support your goals between appointments.
Connected to the rest of your care
Physical therapy may be one part of your rehabilitation. Occupational therapy can focus on daily tasks, while speech therapy can address communication and cognitive concerns. When more than one service is appropriate, your goals provide a shared direction.
Bring your usual walking aid, relevant medical information, and comfortable clothing to your evaluation. Call our office at (443) 360-5527 for scheduling and insurance questions.
Walking, balance, and getting around
Practice should connect to real movement: getting out of a chair, stepping around an obstacle, changing direction, or managing stairs. We look at the parts that are difficult and the support you need.
When pain or orthopedic recovery affects movement
Your evaluation can also consider pain, injury, or recovery after surgery. Bring medical instructions and describe how these concerns affect your daily activities.
Common questions
How often will I need physical therapy?
Frequency and length of care depend on your evaluation, goals, progress, and coverage requirements. Your therapist will discuss a recommended plan with you.
